Nina Cannon initially developed her writing skills, attention to detail, concern for fact-checking, and meticulous proofreading skills as a corporate attorney in New York City for Thalen Reid & Priest, Spengler Carlson Gubar Brodsky & Frischling, and Mudge Rose Guthrie Alexander & Ferdon in the 1980s and 1990s. Cannon is a 1986 graduate of Duke Law School (Durham, NC), and a 1983 graduate (summa cum laude) of Dickinson College (Carlisle, PA) with a B.A. in Political Science.
After practicing in NYC for fifteen years, Cannon left the law to raise her three children, who are currently attending MIT, Princeton University, and Bucknell University. Cannon then became a writing tutor, and college essay tutor to high school students.
Cannon was able to combine her talent for writing with her editing and proofreading skills as a freelance copy editor and proofreader. Cannon completed her coursework in copyediting and proofreading at New York University in 2014.
Cannon is a member of the American Copy Editors Association (ACES) and the Copyediting-L online list for freelance copyeditors.
